Synopsis

(From Amazon.com)

Vi knows the Rule: Girl’s don’t walk with boys, and they never even think about kissing them. But no one makes Vi want to break the Rules more than Zenn… and since the Thinkers have chosen him as Vi’s future match, how much trouble can one kiss cause? The Thinkers may have brainwashed the rest of the population, but Vi is determined to think for herself.

But the Thinkers are unusually persuasive, and they’re set on convincing Vi to become one of them… starting by brainwashed Zenn. Vi can’t leave Zenn in the Thinkers’ hands, but she’s wary of joining the rebellion, especially since that means teaming up with Jag. Jag is egotistical, charismatic, and dangerous: everything Zenn’s not. Vi can’t quite trust Jag and can’t quite resist him, but she also can’t give up on Zenn.

This is a game of control or be controlled. And Vi has no choice but to play.

My Verdict

I have never been more happily confused in my life. This book takes you on a journey of emotions, mostly negative ones (shock, confusion, anger) but all for the greater good. That is,  being so absorbed in a story and caring about the characters so much that you can feel all those emotions!

I read this book at the beginning of the summer so I can’t elaborate on the details since I don’t remember any. Hmmm, I wonder if I’ve been brainwashed… Anyway, what I do remember is getting sucked into this story and immersed in the tech filled, mind-controlling world that Johnson has created.

I remember the ending. How could I forget it! It’s one of those dreaded/wonderful cliffhangers that will have you begging for the next installment, Surrender, which comes out June 5, 2012. I for one, cannot wait!

COVER REVEAL

Elana recently revealed the cover to Surrender on her blog. Here it is, isn't it beautiful? I love it!  I won't include the synopsis cause I don't want to ruin it for those who have yet to read the first.
